Cookies, as described by the reference legislation, are small text strings that the sites visited by the user send to his/her terminal (usually to the browser), where they are stored and then transmitted to the same sites the next time the same user visits. While browsing a site, the user may also receive cookies on his terminal equipment that are sent by different sites or web servers (so-called "third parties"), on which some elements (such as, for example, images, maps, sounds, specific links to pages of other domains) present on the site he is visiting may reside. Cookies are used for different purposes: carrying out computer authentications, session monitoring, storing information on specific configurations concerning users accessing the server, etc. It should be noted that in implementation of the provisions contained in Directive 2009/136/EC, there is an obligation to acquire the prior and informed consent of users for the installation of cookies used for purposes other than purely technical ones (see Article 1, paragraph 5, letter a) of Legislative Decree no. 69 of 28 May 2012, which amended Article 122 of Legislative Decree 196/2003 - the "Code" - and Provv. 8 May 2014 of the Guarantor for the protection of personal data for the information and acquisition of consent for the use of cookies). Two macro-categories are therefore identified: "technical" cookies and "profiling" cookies:

a. Technical cookies

Technical cookies are those used for the sole purpose of "carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the user to provide such a service" (see Art. 122, paragraph 1 of the Code). They are not used for any further purposes and are normally installed directly by the website owner or operator. They can be divided into navigation or session cookies, which ensure normal navigation and use of the website (allowing, for example, to make a purchase or authenticate to access restricted areas); analytics cookies, which are assimilated to technical cookies where they are used directly by the website operator to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and on how they visit the website itself; functionality cookies, which allow the user to navigate according to a series of selected criteria (e.g. language, products selected for purchase) in order to improve the service rendered to the same. Users' prior consent is not required for the installation of such cookies, while the obligation to provide information pursuant to Article 13 of the Code remains in place.

b. Profiling cookies

Profiling cookies are aimed at creating profiles of the user and are used to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user while surfing the web. Because of the particular invasiveness that such devices can have in the private sphere of users, European and Italian legislation provides that the user must be adequately informed about their use and thus express his valid consent. They are referred to in Art. 122 of the Code where it provides that 'the storage of information in the terminal equipment of a contractor or user or access to information already stored is permitted only on condition that the contractor or user has expressed consent after having been informed in the simplified manner set out in Article 13(3)' (Art. 122(1) of the Code).

If the user chooses to continue browsing the site, by ignoring/clicking the banner, he/she consents to the use of cookies. It will then be possible to send a "technical" cookie to the user to save his preference and prevent the banner with the short information from continuing to appear during the continuation of navigation and also on any subsequent visits. The user can change his or her option at any time by accessing the extended information page.

Cookies used by this website and their purposes

The use of technical cookies does not require the prior consent of the User pursuant to art. 122 paragraph 1 of Legislative Decree 196/2003. These cookies can enable certain functions, without which it would not be possible to make full use of the website, and are transferred to the User's device only during the browser session. The technical cookies used are:

DISPLAYCOOKIECONSENT

Indicates whether the user has consented to the use of cookies. The expiry time is 1 year.

PHPSESSID

PHPSESSID is a native PHP cookie and allows websites to store serialisation status data. It is used to establish a user session and to communicate status data via a temporary cookie, commonly referred to as a session cookie. As the PHPSESSID cookie has no expiry date, it disappears when the browser is closed.

SSID, SID, SAPISID, PREF, NID, HSID, APISID

Cookies used by Google Maps that are necessary for the functioning of dynamic maps. Their content and creation are not directly controllable as they are generated automatically when the dynamic map is included.
